Rajasthan Students Lock School Gates Over Unsafe Buildings and Teacher Shortages

The school has only three teachers for 174 students, while five senior posts remain vacant. The protest came a day after a roof slab collapsed, highlighting concerns over the safety of students and staff.

Two unsafe buildings also continue to stand at the school years after it was upgraded, adding to concerns raised by students and villagers over the condition of the premises.

Officials responded to the protest by posting seven temporary teachers at the school and promising repairs. However, protesters are demanding permanent solutions to the building safety concerns and the teacher shortage.

The incident comes after similar action by students in Jaipur recently led to the suspension of a principal.

The protest at Jodhawas has brought renewed attention to the school’s unsafe buildings, leaking roofs and vacant teaching posts, with students and villagers continuing to demand permanent repairs and adequate staffing.
